๐ How to Use The Potter's Mud Room
๐ Welcome, Potter!
The Potter's Mud Room helps you track every piece you make โ from wet clay to finished work. No more forgetting which glaze you used or what cone you fired at. Here's how to get the most out of it.
๐บ Tracking Pieces
This is the heart of the app. Each piece gets its own log.
- Go to Pieces โ click + Add Piece
- Give it a name (e.g., "Blue cereal bowl")
- Pick your clay body and technique
- Add the glazes you used โ pick how many coats and the method (dip, brush, spray)
- Click Save โ done!
Come back later to update the status as it moves through the process. Add photos at each stage so you can see the transformation.
๐ก Free accounts: 20 pieces, 1 photo each. Paid plans: unlimited pieces, 3 photos each.
๐ชจ Clay Bodies
Before logging pieces, add your clay bodies:
- Go to Clay โ click + Add Clay Body
- Enter the name, brand, type, cone range
- Add the shrinkage % and cost per bag to track expenses
- Note the wet vs fired color โ super helpful for planning
๐จ Glazes
Log every glaze in your collection:
- Go to Glazes โ click + Add Glaze
- Choose Commercial (store bought) or Recipe (mix your own)
- For commercial: add the brand and SKU so you can reorder
- For recipes: add each ingredient and percentage
- Add up to 3 photos of the glaze result on different clays
๐ก The #1 pain point for potters: "What glaze was that?" This solves it.
๐ฅ Firing Logs
Track every firing:
- Go to Firings โ click + Log Firing
- Pick the type (bisque, glaze, raku, etc.)
- Enter cone, atmosphere, kiln name
- Log the speed and whether you used a hold (and for how long)
- Link it to a specific piece
- After opening the kiln, come back and add your results!
