Have a piece in front of you but can’t remember where you recorded it?
Photo Lookup lets you use a photo to search your own saved pottery pieces and find likely matches.
Take or select a photo and The Potter’s Mud Room can help narrow down the piece you’re looking for—without scrolling through everything you’ve made.
Turn Your Test Tiles Into a Searchable Glaze Library
Every potter knows how quickly test tiles accumulate.
They hang from rings, fill boxes and cover shelves. Months later, you can find an amazing glaze result and have absolutely no idea how you got it.
The Test Tile Library gives you a dedicated place to photograph and record your glaze tests.
Better yet, you can search your Test Tile Library by attributes to help find a particular glaze or result.
As you add tests, you’re building your own searchable glaze reference—a record of what actually happened with your clay, your glazes and your firings.
Instead of simply collecting test tiles, you can use them.
Organize Your Clay, Glazes and Glaze Combinations
The finished piece is only part of the story.
The Potter’s Mud Room gives you dedicated places to keep track of your clay bodies, glazes and glaze combinations, including photos and the information you want to remember.
This update includes improvements to saving, editing and photo handling throughout these studio tools.
Keep Firing Records You Can Refer Back To
Sometimes a glaze result you want to reproduce happened six months ago.
What firing was it?
What temperature?
What else was happening in that kiln?
Firing Logs give you somewhere to keep that history instead of relying on memory.
We’ve improved firing information, times and photo handling so your firing records can become a useful reference as your pottery evolves.
Keep Track of Projects, Experiments and Casualties
Not every piece survives pottery.
Sometimes it cracks. Sometimes the glaze does something completely unexpected. Sometimes you open the kiln and immediately know that piece isn’t going anywhere except the casualty pile.
But failures are information too.
The Casualties area gives you somewhere to document what went wrong, while Projects help you keep track of work you’re developing.
Because sometimes the piece that failed teaches you more than the one that worked.
Keep the Business Side of Pottery Close Too
For many potters, making is only part of the job.
The Potter’s Mud Room also includes tools for the business side of your studio.

My Store lets you save a link to your own online pottery shop and access it quickly from inside The Potter’s Mud Room.
Whether you sell through Etsy, Shopify, Square, or your own website, your store can be just a tap away.
The Mud Room doesn’t host or replace your existing shop. It simply gives you convenient access to it from your pottery workspace.
Pricing and Sales
The Mud Room also includes tools for pricing pottery and tracking sales, helping you keep more of the information surrounding your work together.
This update includes improvements to calculations and sales information, including more accurate quantity-based totals.
Connect With the Pottery Community
Pottery may happen at the wheel or workbench, but it has always been a community.
The Potter’s Mud Room includes a Forum and Gallery where potters can share work and connect with one another.
We’ve made improvements to Forum editing and photos as well as Gallery sharing in this release.
Pottery Events
The Events area gives you another place to keep pottery-related information together.
We’ve improved event photos and camera/photo functionality as part of this update as well.
Sometimes the Best Improvements Are the Ones You Never Notice
A substantial amount of work in this release happened behind the scenes.
Saving a photo should work.
Editing a piece shouldn’t erase information you already entered.
A calculation should calculate correctly.
Information you save should still be there when you return.
We’ve spent a lot of time testing, finding problems, fixing them, and testing again because reliability matters just as much as adding something new.
Pottery already has enough surprises. Your pottery app doesn’t need to add more.
iPhone Is Updated — Website and Android Are in Progress
The latest version of The Potter’s Mud Room for iPhone is available now.
We’re also in the process of updating and verifying The Potter’s Mud Room website and Android app so the Mud Room provides the same core features and functionality across platforms.
The Potter’s Mud Room is already available on Google Play for Android, with the latest updates and improvements coming soon.
Some of these updates and features may already be available on the website while we finish the remaining work.
We’re taking the time to do this carefully because our goal isn’t simply to add features. We want The Potter’s Mud Room to be dependable whether you use it on iPhone, Android, or the web.
